About the Training Portal

What the Training Portal Does
=================================================

The |tp| is used to manage the following functions of a *training and checking
organisation*:

- Training task due dates and scheduling
- Training record completion and administration
- Training package control and distribution
- Instruments of Approvals and Delegations held by Company staff
- Technical exams, and records of results

In addition, the *Training Portal* also provides detailed PDF and html
reporting, as well as automated email alerts and reporting to assist
administrative and management staff manage the various training programs.

How the Training Portal Works

Software
-------------------------------------------------

The *Training Portal* is written in `Python <https://www.python.org/psf/>`_
using the `Django framework <https://www.djangoproject.com/>`_. These projects
are open-source software which are in widespread use in modern web-development.

Hosting
-------------------------------------------------

The system is hosted on servers located on the network running `CentOS Linux
<https://www.centos.org/>`_ and the `Nginx <https://nginx.org/en/>`_ web-server.

Support and Maintenance
=================================================

Support and maintenance for the *Training Portal* is provided by the |sysadmin|,
Rod Manning.

All requests for support should be directed to the |sysadmin|, and other IT help
services should be CC'd in to requests for help.
